Chhatha Puja
Chhatha is one of the greatest festivals of tarai region . The people living in tarai region celebrate the chhat Jubilantly. Chatha puja is celebrated two times in the year in the Nepali month of Kartik and charitra .But specially it is celebrated for the Four days after the bhaitika or sixth days of Kartik sukla pakxa. So, this festival is known as ‘Chhatha’.
This festival is also known as Family Festival and Surya Festival.This festival is celebrated by Hindus as well as Muslims.
For this festival people need Flowers, Fruits, Thekuwa, bhusuwa, sweets etc. In the Chhatha puja, they take varieties of tasty foods . Many people make different types of sweets, like. Thekuwa, bhusuwa, Mithai, Nariwal, Anarasa..etc ,they take it as an offering given by God.
The festival is celebrated for two days and people worship the sun . There is a tradition to fast on the day before Chhatha. People go to the banks of Rivers, Lakes pounds near from Their homes. and worship The sun that is settling in the evening time. They stay awake Whole night enjoying dancing on the banks of the river On the day of Chhatha , and early in the morning again worship the sun that is just rising. It is also their transition to light different Diyas on the floating banana trees.
It is said that the life of the people will go into success if they do so from their inner heart. Not only this , it is also believed that by doing so. Their house is filled with peace and they who take fasting during the festival time can get rid of different skin diseases, It is believed that celebrating holidays with a pure heart will bring family well-being, children's happiness and wish fulfillment.
