Tihar is also known as Deepawali and Yama Panchak. During Tihar, people decorate their homes, light up with sparkling lights, prepare traditional delicacies like Sel Roti,Anarsa etc, gather with friends to celebrate, and enjoy activities like singing Deusi-Bhailo, and playing on swings.

Deusi-bhailo:

Deusi is played in groups of two or more friends. Bhailo is specially played on the day of Laxmi Puja. In the past, women's groups used to play Bhailo, and men's groups played Deusi. However, nowadays both men and women participate together in playing Deusi.

How to Play deusi- bhailo in Tihar ?

In a Deusi group, one person leads by chanting, and the others respond with "Deusi Re." In a very joyful way, people express the hardships and experiences of their village life through Deusi, while also explaining the significance of celebrating Tihar.

After playing Deusi, the household gives offerings in the form of money, Sel Roti, rice, flowers, and lit lamps, which is called "Dakshina." The Deusi players then gather around the Dakshina in a circle, offer flowers and sacred rice, and bid farewell to that house before moving on to the next one.

A part of deusi:
 "Aa hai jhilimili jhilimili; "
    "Deusire "
"AA hai phulako Jhilimili;"
     "Deusire "
"Aa hai k KO jhilimili ,"
     " Deusire "
"AA hai battiko jhilimili "
       " deusire '
Meanings:

Bhai Tika is the most awaited and important day of Tihar. On this final or fifth day of the festival, sisters perform a ritual for their brothers, wishing them good health, long life, and prosperity. On this day, sisters start by applying oil, lighting a lamp, and placing a sacred pot and Lord Ganesh as witnesses. They apply a seven-coloured tika on their brothers’ foreheads and place garlands of velvet and marigold flowers around their necks, offering gifts as well. In return, brothers also put tika on their sisters and exchange money or gifts.
